Feature Writers: Nicole Rasmussen & Ilka Scobie
Nicole Ramussen discovered writing as a mode of survival when she was 5 years old. Ever since, she has written in order to return to a level of emotion that she could handle safely. Each of her poems are about survival, whether it be from external demons in the form of a society designed to deny her existence or those trapped inside her mind.
Ilka Scobie is a native New Yorker, a feminist and writer who focuses on poetry that is accessible, progressive, and hopefully compassionate. She is inspired by rebellion, breakthroughs and secret gardens.
This series, started in 1999, is hosted by Vittoria repetto – the hardest working guinea butch dyke poet on the lower east side
